Supporting writers

The Northern Writers’ Centre will be a focal point of activity for writers seeking to develop their careers. A place to work, to learn, to network and perform, the Centre will offer writers from the region a unique meeting place.

As a dissemination point of information on writing and writing-related business, the Centre will cater to the needs of both professional and aspiring writers. It will be a place both to be inspired and to get good business advice.

The Centre will bring together New Writing North’s professional development expertise with Newcastle University’s academic research and teaching in Creative Writing to create a unique mix of training and study opportunities.

The Centre will provide a number of flexible workspaces for writers, both for long-term residencies and short-term project work.

The Centre will embrace all forms of Creative Writing, from poetry and fiction, to writing for performance, to writing for broadcast, public art and new forms of digital distribution
