Grammatically, the dative 'giving' case denotes 'to' or 'for'. Who are you writing a poem to, who is it for, and why?
This year the Bloodaxe Poetry Lectures will be given by acclaimed poet Ruth Padel. Padel is the author of 52 Ways of Looking at a Poem and The Poem and the Journey, two books that have done much to engage and enlighten readers of contemporary poetry.
